Mr. Fernandez represents owners selling businesses to private equity and corporate buyers.
Mike began his career in investment banking at JP Morgan in 1992. He later worked in Mexico as a management consultant for Mars & Company, helping Fortune 500 clients improve the investment returns of international acquisitions. He co-founded both The Coffee Review, introducing the first-ever 100-point rating system for the specialty coffee industry, and Great Coffee, Inc., a leading online coffee retailer twice awarded the Forbes magazine “Best of the Web” award. He completed a post-graduate internship as a buy-side equity analyst for Parnassus Investments, a leading socially responsible $1 billion+ investment fund.
He served as a Captain in the US Army Reserves, graduating at the top of both his military class and his officer basic course. He earned his Airborne (paratrooper) wings and served with the 411th Civil Affairs battalion, a special operations unit engaging in humanitarian relief and reconstruction missions. Mike also co-founded and is Chairman of the Board of Little Kids Rock, an innovative non-profit providing free music lessons and instruments to about 10,000 children in public schools in 7 states. He was recently selected as one of the top emerging leaders under 40 and one of the most influential Latinos in San Francisco by the San Francisco Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the San Francisco Business Times, receiving awards from both Mayor Gavin Newsom and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.
Mike earned a BS in economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University.
